We are starting a project and I wondered if you would be able to use your experience to help us get started.
What we’d like to explore is setting up a pilot whereby we send out membership advocacy cards to our existing members that they can distribute to prospective students or to employers who may benefit from employing accounting technicians or train their existing staff with the qualification. What we were thinking about is to end up with a situation whereby we send all members a small number of these cards which will contain some information that would help to explain who the AAT is and what we do, so that someone who has never heard of us before has an understanding of this, and how we could help them.
Ideally it would be useful to try and track usage of these advocacy cards, perhaps by allowing the member who is distributing the card the opportunity to put their name or their membership number on the card somehow, so that if a person, having received one of these cards, decides to register as a student, or an employer approaches us for more information, we can then track who the advocate was. Or we could have numbers printed chronologically on the cards and track which we send to who.
We haven’t developed this substantially beyond the nugget of the idea as of yet, and I was wondering if from you had experience with any similar prior jobs that could help with that?
To begin with we would want to pilot this to a smallish group of members, around 500-1000. We will also need to think more about what actually needs to go on the cards, if we go down the route of these being business card size, which would be ideal, then there is a limit as to what could be contained.
The idea at present is that we send it to people with a thank you letter (something we don’t currently do) when they have paid their subscriptions.
Could you please investigate if your company has done any similar type projects and come back with any ideas?
