Posted in Editors Column on Thu 29 Aug 2013

Phil Clarke, owner of Calendar Lady, a leading supplier of advertising calendars, diaries, UK corporate gifts and business stationery, has given us a run down of their most popular calendars of the day. Now is the perfect time to think about ordering your calendars ready for 2014 so we hope that Phil's insights will give you some inspiration.

"In an age of i-Pads, i-Phones and other digital ways of viewing dates, amazingly the wall calendar is still as popular as ever. They are useful, attractive and the subject matter will always keep them up to date.

"Calendar Lady's promotional best sellers are always Scenic, Wildlife and Fast Cars, but we have nearly every subject under the sun.

"In the Celebrity calendar market sales are hotting up already. Every year we keep an eye on the top sellers and publish our Top 10.

"This year a football team calendar, a TV show or an online games like Moshi Monsters could possibly top the chart. The surprise package last year was Tom Daley who, (with the London Olympic factor), grabbed number 2 with his first ever calendar.

"Last years top 10 looked like this (previous year in brackets).

1. One Direction - (1)
2. Justin Bieber - (3)
3. Tom Daley - (new entry & calendar debut)
4. Keith Lemon - (new entry & calendar debut)
5. JLS - (4)
6. Cliff Richard - (2)
7. Cheryl - (10)
8. Kelly Brook - (new entry back into top 10)
9. Olly Murs - (new entry)
10 The Wanted - (new entry)

"Early sales are leading towards - Mrs Brown's Boys, Moshi Monsters and Ed Sheeran With regular good sellers The Simpsons, Manchester United FC, The Racing Post, The Family Planner and Top Gear all pushing for a Top 10 spot!

"But can anyone possibly challenge Cliff Richard - the best selling calendar of the last decade? Still doing it after all these years, decorating the walls of women up and down Britain, already sitting in the number 6 spot.

"Maybe we just don't like white walls!"
