Calendar Lady explains what 'The Budget' actually means for your business

Posted in Industry News on Tue 24 Mar 2015

The team at leading promotional product supplier, Calendar Lady, have put together an informative article  on what 'The Budget' means for your business. This positive piece is a great read so take a look below:

The Government produce a Budget that seems to give a bit to everyone. Obviously they are fishing for votes in election year, but we'd better give them (and ourselves) some credit.

Compared with 4 years ago, there are now 1.3 million more people in work and our GDP is growing even faster than Germany's. With the lowest number of people claiming benefits since records began in 1971, it's time to capitalise on the good times. So spread the positive word and do what the British are good at... building good businesses! We might be a Nation of Shopkeepers, but if you look around, there's innovation and inspiration everywhere!

1) Our Economy has grown bigger and faster than any other in the Western World in 2014.
This has to be good news for the confidence of our customers. After negative growth during the recession, we're now on the up!

2) Deficit to decrease by half to 5%
Borrowing is OK, but remember, we do have to pay it back.

3) Tax-free personal allowance to increase to £11,000 in 2017
Hurray, we'll all be £200 better off later in 2015 and a further £500 better off in 2017. As someone once said, "Every little helps!"

4) Personal savings allowance – basic payers have £1000 savings interest allowance.
If you manage to stash some cash, at least £1000 is free from interest-tax

5) Help to Buy ISA – the government gives you £50 for every £200 you save (up to £3000 savings).
Super savers succeed.

6) Freeze fuel duty
This is a sensible move, helping Haulage Companies, Couriers, Coach Tour Operators… in fact, anyone who uses company vehicles.

7) Decrease in beer duty
Way-hay, after a hard working week, you deserve a drink. Celebrations are a little cheaper now.

8) Charities can claim up to £8000 gift aid on small donations
Great news for Charities! Oh, I think I'll sign up for that fun-run and get some sponsorship!

9) No paper annual tax returns
Saves you time and money, now just tick a few boxes online.

10) National support with transport, broadband and mobile networks.
Seal that business deal on your mobile phone without breaking up. Finally, we'll be able to get a signal everywhere.
