Merit Encourages Young New Design Talent

on Tue 24 April 2007

In its quest to keep designs new and innovative, Merit Promotional Clothing has worked with Colchester School of Art and Design on a project in which students on the Fashion and Textiles BA Hons course could enter a competition that would provide them with some work experience in an industry that is key to their course.

The idea then snowballed when Merit client TIGI, a major haircare brand, became involved. The final brief was for each student to create 2 T-shirt designs. The first design for Merit – the second design for TIGI.

Joanna Ling won the prize for designing the Merit T-shirt and she has continued to do regular work for Merit.

The winner of the best T-shirt for TIGI, judged by TIGI, was Jessica Haley (pictured) who will see the T-shirts manufactured for TIGI as part of their 2007 range and receive a cash or product based prize.
