Promotional Products Week sends Scottish MPs its voting referendum highlighter

Posted in Industry News on Mon 8 Sep 2014

Organisers of Promotional Products Week (PPW) supplied Alex Salmond, David Cameron and Alistair Darling with the perfect promotional product to help confirm their support for the YES and NO Scottish referendum campaign. In addition over 50 Scottish MPs and a wide selection of journalists – across print, online and TV – were sent the ‘referendum voting highlighter’.

The double-sided highlighter is in red for the UK and the NO vote and blue for Scotland and the YES vote. It was created by PPW to gauge public interest in the referendum and show which way people plan to cast their vote.

The power and popularity of the pen as a promotional product was shown in research commissioned in 2013 by the British Promotional Merchandise Association (BPMA) which revealed that pens and highlighters are the product most often purchased by marketers to carry an advertising message.

New research about what business people keep on their desks is to be revealed on the 15th September by the organisers of Promotional Products Week.

Promotional Products Week takes place during the 15th – 19th September and is being run by the BPMA. During the week nearly 600 members will be taking part in activities including open days, events and hospitality, new product launches and special offers. The BPMA Student Design Innovation Awards, run in conjunction with Brunel University, will also be held.
