The Equality Act 2010

The Equality Act will come into force on 1 October 2010, replacing the Discrimination Act. The Equality Act creates a piece of anti-discrimination legislation across a range of protected characteristics, which include:

  • age,
  • disability,
  • marriage and civil partnerships,
  • pregnancy and maternity,
  • race,
  • religion or belief,
  • sex and sexual orientation.
