By Jason Fisher, Sales Director, Eco-carrier-bags.co.uk

Eco-carrier-bags.co.uk has been established for over eight years. The company supplies a wide range of printed/branded promotional eco friendly carrier bags such as bio-polythene, paper, cotton, canvas and jute.

Jason Fisher, Sales Director, at Eco-carrier-bags.co.uk offers his Top 10 Tips of items to consider to enable you to create a solid brief when buying promotional bags. If in doubt, discuss these points with your supplier before you give a written brief.

1. QUANTITY. There is a vast range of quantity options available depending on the fabric you choose. Cotton and canvas usually have the lowest minimum order quantity, followed by jute, bio-polythene and then paper. So first decide on the fabric.

2. FABRIC. The plastic carrier bag is not dead but for promotions for companies whose CSR policy includes environmentally-friendly elements, opt for bio-polythene or recycled paper carrier bags, printed using eco friendly materials. Other materials to consider include cotton, canvas or jute.

3. Having chosen the fabric, next consider the GAUGE/MICRON/OZ. Will your promotion require standard thickness or should you specify a particular guage, micron and weight of fabric?

4. SIZE. Promotional bags come in all shapes and sizes. If your bag is to house another promotional gift, then obviously the dimensions of that gift must be taken into consideration.

5. STYLE. Chose a style that suits the brand being promoted. For instance, a duffle style might suit a promotion to a younger audience.

6. There are a wide variety of HANDLES available. For bio-polythene carrier bags consider punched out, patch, flexiloop and duffle style. For paper bags the options include twisted, rope (long and short) and for cotton, canvas and jute, simply long or short handle. But many things are possible, so for something special, ask the advice of your supplier.

7. BRANDING. Printing can be simply one spot colour on one or two sides all the way up to eight spot colours. Plus the option of process print (cmyk).

8. SET UP. There is often a small charge for the printing plates.

9. DELIVERY. Lead times vary tremendously, so make your enquiry or place your order at the earliest possible time. Delivery in a few days is possible (but may be subject to an express charge), but a more realistic lead time is 2/3 weeks or longer depending on whether you choose sea, road or air delivery.

10. PRICE. The prices vary depending on all of the above elements, but make sure you suppy all the above information and agree a firm price before you place your order.
